If you are on this page, on this website, reading this, there is a high chance you are looking to buy a portable and (maybe) an affordable video or image projector. Well, I should say: you are at the right place.
There are hundreds of companies that produce projectors out there, and more overwhelming is the fact that there are thousands of projector products out there –in varieties– and while that may be a good thing, it sometimes could be a headache to shoppers looking to make the best buying decision. Truly, deciding on what to buy really (and to a large extent) depends on what you need, and on some other secondary factors. Factors like price and spending budget are also great determinants of what kind of projector you end up buying.
However, if you seek to purchase a portable projector that can serve as a home entertainment system, do office and school presentations, can be easily carried about, has a battery backup, and most importantly, affordable, then you might want to read on and check out the projector below.
The TOUMEi C800 Mini Pico Projector is a budget projector from TOUMEi, a high tech company based in China, with its specialty in the production of mini projectors, pico projectors, 3D projectors. You can find about the company on the official page of the brand .
Time to see what the TOUMEi C800 Mini Pico Projector is made of.
The TOUMEi C800 Mini is a pico projector. In case you aren’t of the know, pico projectors (otherwise known as Pocket projectors) are designed to either video or pictures from smartphones, tablets, camcorders, or from memory sticks.
Being a pico projector, the TOUMEi C800 Mini is small-sized, portable, and compact. Unlike the usual projectors usually needs to be safely carried around in two hands, the TOUMEi C800 Mini can be moved anywhere and almost anyhow with just one hand. The C800 Mini has a dimension of 6.22 x 3.15 x 0.71 inches and weighs only 0.49 kilograms. If you can’t seem to get the real-life picture of how small this projector is, it is about the size of your 5.7 or 6-inches phablet smartphone. See the picture showing the detailed comparison below.
The TOUMEI C800 Mini Pico Projector is only available in the Black color option, but I am of the guess that that should not be much of a big deal.
On the frontal of the C800 Mini, the lens is on the left-hand side and is boxed in a silver frame that serves aesthetics purposes, as well as a stopper for the lens when adjusting the focus. There is two vent opening on the front also for heat dissipation and cooling purpose. On the left side of the pico projector, close to the lens, is the focus adjustment knob. The TOUMEI C800 Mini Pico Projector doesn’t come with a keystone correction knob, and this affects the display position on the wall/board to a (negligible) extent.
The top of the TOUMEI C800 Mini is a bit glossy. This shiny and reflective appearance makes the projector seem as though it was made from glass or premium ceramic. Looking very closely, you will also notice some tiny regular cross-sectional patterns at the top –another aesthetic property. TOUMEi engineering and design departments deserve some worthy accolades. This has got to be one of the best designed (pico) projectors I have seen.
On the rear, there are some input ports, switch, and grills. From left to right: a TF/SD card port, a reset button, a USB port, DC IN/ power cord port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI port, power button, and loudspeaker grill. How TOUMEi managed to fit these components into just 18mm of thickness is super impressive and laudable.
On the bottom, there is a hole to attach a tripod stand. The tripod comes out of the box with the projector and is easily attachable and detachable by screwing clockwise and anti-clockwise respectively. The projector can be placed on a surface and used without the tripod as there are stands/feet at the bottom corners of the pico projector.
Being a pico projector, and having a small lens, the C800 Mini doesn’t quite do well in terms of display quality. The C800 Mini has a native resolution of 854 x 480 and 100 ANSI lumens brightness. Projection distance stands between 1 – 3 meters and projected image size is 60 inch, but can reach a max of 100 inches.
Other display properties of the TOUMEi C800 Mini Pico projector include
– Throw Ratio: 1.19:1 – 1.4:1
– Image Scale: 16:9,4:3
– Aspect Ratio: 16:9 / 4:3
Connecting to the C800 Mini via the numerous ports on the rear, the projector also supports wireless connections via Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi. The multimedia formats supported by the C800 Mini are:
According to TOUMEi, the C800 Mini lens has a lamp life of 20,000 hours and a built-in battery of 4,000mAh; these figures are head-turning. Though the battery capacity may seem huge, wouldn’t expect much from it as it can only conveniently provide 30 minutes to 1 hour of projection. It is advisable to use the projector with the DC cable plugged in.
However, the fact that you can use the C800 Mini anywhere without power supply is enough reason why you should consider buying. This is perfect for quick presentations in places where there is limited power supply or no available power outlet.
The TOUMEi C800 Mini Pico Projector currently sells for $199.99 on GearBest and sells for about the same price elsewhere.
