Anker PowerCore Fusion Ultra-polar Suit Review: Made For Travelling

Conclusions:

First, I want to make a summarization about it. After two days in-depth testing, I draw the following conclusions:

Anker Super Charger has a dual-port rechargeable plug and it is a dual-port mobile power, easy to carry, a great tool for travelling.

The Voltage-reduced compensation technology makes the output voltage more stable and safer. The heat won’t be too high when charging plug is charged or it is discharging.

As a high efficiency mobile power, its conversion rate is high. The single-port’s current output can reach 3A, the actual capacity of 3200mAH is ideal for using with iPhone.

The appearance and texture of the charging plug are both good. The appearance, workmanship, materials, performance of the data line in the package is more superior to the original data line.

But it does not support the fast charge, and charging itself is a little slow, takes around 3 hours. But I do not think this is a disadvantage, the charging head itself is very mini. One cannot serve God man Mammon.

There are still some drawbacks. The only drawback is that because of the batteries, it is a little thick, a little bit heavy, so that it may be unstable when plug to the wall.

Mobile power supplies with direct-plug-in plug are already on sale on the market, but they all only can charge the power supply. The charging circuit is relatively simple and cannot supply power to other devices. In fact, I have been looking for such a product, especially when I went to Shanghai AWE Expo a few days ago; I realized that if I get this super-charge earlier it will be much easier for me. At that time I brought an IPhone SE, a charging pal, a SONY camera, but I only have one charging plug. Miserably, only a few devices take turns for charging! If I had have Anker super charge pal, then I can charge iPhone SE and SONY camera simultaneously. Just plug it in directly, because when the camera and phone is fully charged, it will charge itself automatically. A 2A current is sufficient; iPhone and camera are both use 1A-charging. A 5000mAH capacity is enough to charge IPhone SE twice.

Therefore, Anker super charge pal is particularly suitable for those who travel frequently.

Evaluation:

The stability of Output testing

In order to make the test data more accurate, I use the USB voltmeter with high accuracy to test; the measurement value can be accurate to 4 decimal, with an accuracy of ± 0.2%. First, look at ANKER data line within the package, this data line has MFI certification, and its technology and materials are very solid; As shown, I use the ANKER data line to connect ANKER super charge pal to charge my IPAD AIR2, the charging voltage is stable at 5.1 V or so, the charging current can reach 2A, and the equivalent load resistance at this time is 2.48Ω.

Then I find a non-original data line to continue my test, as shown, the maximum charge current can only reach 1A, and the equivalent load resistance is up to 5.39Ω. So we must remember to use the qualified data line for charging.

Next we are going to do the stability testing. The output stability of charger plug/ mobile power is essential; otherwise the chargers which are only a few dollars are much on the market. And There are abundant 19.9 Yuan chargers, why choose the expensive ones? I saw ANKER super charge also has a pressure-drop compensation technology, which allows USB output to be always stable above 5V. And I would like to test whether the technology is worthy of the name? I will not test the constant current with the false load discharge, because the false load current is constant, it cannot show the current changes influenced by voltage changes.

I used IphoneSE until it shut down automatically, then charged it up to 100% with ANKER data cable and super charge pal, which costs a total of 117 minutes. During the test, I used the phone as usual to make the test more realistic. The Data acquisition is a little intensive, more than 70,000 simultaneous acquisitions of real-time voltage / current data in total. The testing results are shown in the figure, the blue one is the voltage, and the orange is the current, and the left axis is the voltage axis, the range is 4.9V-5.3V; the right axis is the current. In order not to make the voltage mixed up with the current lines, the current axis ranges from 0 to 5A. It can be seen that the output of ANKER super charge pal is very stable indeed, even if I use the phone during the charging, the output voltage remains between 5.02V-5.13V. Since the voltage range is small, the voltage curve appears to be varying greatly. And if the range of the axis is set to 0-10V, then this voltage line will appear to be level.

ANKER super has the PowerIQ quick charge technology, so it can automatically identify a variety of devices and match the corresponding charge current. IPHONE SE charging current is around 1A. i tried again to charge the IPAD AIR2. As shown, this testing collects more than 50,000 voltage / current data simultaneously. I did not use it when charging my IPAD, the charging current is stable at 2A, and the voltage is stable between 5.05V-5.12V.

The two groups of testing are tested with ANKER Super Charger as a pure mobile power supply. Then whether it is the same to use it as a charging plug? I plug the super charging pal in the socket to charge Andrews tablet, a total of more than 50,000 voltage / current data was collected, the test results are as shown. The Charge current stabilized at about 1.6A, as the charging plug, the output of voltage is more stable. The range of the line chart is 5.1-5.13V, voltage is stable between 5.11-5.12V, almost no fluctuations.

Charging pal’s safety-protection capability is also the most important, during the evaluation process there were several times when the super charger’s power was consumed to be off automatically, so the low-power protection function is OK; from the voltmeter monitoring data, we can see that the charger will be into anti-overcharge when it has been fully charged., function so the anti-overcharge function is out of problem; I found a part of the USB cable to do the hort-circuit. Super charger will quickly be power-off when it happened. The above test show that ANKER super charger is safe and stable whether as a charger or as a mobile power supply.

We all know that the capacity of mobile power actually refers to the capacity of its batteries. The Anker Super Charger has a 26650 lithium battery inside with a rated voltage of 3.7V and a capacity of 5000mAH. As the USB charging port’s voltage is 5.1V, you need to boost 3.7V up to 5.1V to use; the boost circuit has a certain loss, the ratio of the actual output capacity and rated capacity is called the conversion rate, the higher the conversion rate, the less the loss.

I am using the 2A false load to do the constant current discharging, in order to test the actual output capacity that Anker super charge owns. USB port output voltage is controlled at 5.1V:

With 5.1V voltage, 2A (actually 1.92A) current constant current to discharge until it is 0% and shutdown automatically; the actual total output capacity of 3.2AH is 3200mAH:

Be attentive that the capacity I figured out is under my using 2A to discharge, some manufacturers say it is 1A, and the release of electricity at 1A current is higher than at 2A. the formula of the Battery conversion rate is the actual output capacity / cell capacity, which is (5.1X3200) / (3.7X5000) = 88% indeed. And I have to say that the conversion rate is very high among all of those chargers.

To test the actual capacity before, I discharged the Anker super charger, so I plugged it into the metering socket and filled it up again. One benefit of this metering socket is that it stops timing when the load is in no-load current mode, without having to keep watching. The test results are as shown.

The Anker super charge itself from 0% to 100%, 3 hours and 1 minute in totally, and the total power consumption is 24WH. previously we figured out that the rated capacity of Anker Super Charger is 18.5WH, so we can calculate that the conversion rate of Anker Supercharger’s charging for itself is 18.5 / 24 = 77%.

Then I attached with the other record acquisition curves when they were charged with ANKER super charger. Blue is the charging voltage, orange is the charging current, voltage and current share the left axis, red is the power. As it can be seen, the charging voltage is maintained at about 5.05V, the highest charging current is 1.6A-1.7A or so. As with most other batteries, the charging current is getting lower and lower as the charge is gradually increased, charging slowly and slowly until it reaches 100%. It took 3 hours to test the self-charge, while with other 2A-charging plugs took 3 and a half hours (not including the full trickle charge time). It is slower.

I then plugged the fake-loaded in the Anker super to test the conversion rate as a charging plug. As shown, the actual output current of it is 1.92A, the voltage is 5.1V, and the metering socket shows the actual power consumption of the charging head is 12.7W. We can figure out the conversion rate of the charging head is 5.1X1.92 / 12.7 = 77%, the same as the conversion rate for their self-charge. After that I tested with 1A load again and found that the conversion rate under 1A was 75.6%. compared to that under 2A, the difference was not very big.

The out-looking

Finally, let us look at the appearance of it. The Anker Super Charger just looks like a mini charge pal; its shell is good. There is a button on the front, click to it can turn on the LED light, and then you will be shown about power.

This is really a mini charger for me. It can be put in the pocket or the camera bag on the side with no pressure.

Its Shape is smaller than the iPhone SE, two USB ports are sufficient for both SE and iphone7 PLUS. Also attached with a micro USB port, you can also use other power to charge it if necessary.

Of course, in addition to Apple, Android mobile phones, tablets and other digital devices can also be charged.

If it is only a charging plug, it is a little big, as shown, the contrast with IPAD original charging plug:

Anker PowerCore Fusion Ultra-polar Suit Review: Made For Travelling

The size of only 8000mAH half of the mobile power, but much thicker, mainly 8000mAH that is only polymer batteries, if the 18650 batteries will not be too much difference between the two, let alone ANKER is a charging head.

Sent with a pouch:

We needn’t to worry that we forget to take the charging plug.

Plug the super charge pal in the socket. If we only regard it as the charging plug, it is very large, larger than the 4USB charging plug:

Anker PowerCore Fusion Ultra-polar Suit Review: Made For Travelling

Actually, it is not much larger than the IPAD original charging plug; it will not affect other plugs’ using because of being too thick. ANKER super has two USB ports; the single-port maximum output current is 3A, totally enough for traveling.

Look at the data line of Anker, with MFI certification, the knitting is very beautiful, as well as the production process. I think it is feeling much cooler than Apple’s original data line, especially the red one. In the beginning of the article, we have already evaluated the line. Its resistance and pressure are very low, and the performance is better than the original line.

And as the super charger, the data line is also with a storage bag, a magnet inside; you can de-clutter the data cable quickly and easily.IPhone and IPAD are both perfect with that, so those old and fragile original line can be thrown away at home.

The evaluation is now over.
