Logitech G603 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review: A Gaming Mouse with an office mouse texture.

Since the MX MASTET2 was out on the market, I have wanted to buy a wireless mouse when looking at my messy office desk with numerous wires, and many of my colleagues in the office had already changed their mouse into wireless ones which strengthened my determination in buying my own wireless mouse. So I bought this: Logitech G603 Wireless Mouse——A Gaming Mouse with an office mouse texture.

Recently Logitech has launched new products that come in three types: G603, G903 and G703.

Unlike G903 and G703, G630 is not equipped with the POWERPLAY wireless charging technology but G603 wireless gaming mouse delivers up to 500 hours thanks to the independent 1000Hz battery. More importantly, the price of G603 is much lower.

In order to prolong the battery life, Hero, a revolutionary new optical sensor designed by Logitech, has been applied to G603. At the same time, the Logitech RGB lighting system has been reduced abandoned to reduce power consumption. G603 is powered by 2AA batteries, and it is also the first gaming mouse that can connect to blue-tooth and support 2.4G dual-mode among the latest series of Logitech G products. And it also works with an in-built adapter.

Appearance from the Outside

Somehow it turns into a gray box. On the Package, there are eye-catching blue bronzing letters: G603, with “LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse” on the upper right side. LIGHTSPEED is a wireless transmission stability technology applied to the new series of Logitech G wireless mouse especially G900 , which also can match wireless PCB circuit with USB, and it significantly marks a great advancement on high-function wireless gaming mouse after G900.

Its parameters are so specific that the instructions seem a little bit too simplified.

These are all the contents of the instructions, and it’s just too simple. So when I failed to connect the mouse to my computer with the instructions, I thought the mouse was broke and I was going to apply for returning the mouse.

Its upper cover and side skirts are made from some fine frosted plastic material, which has an amazing texture. But I am not sure whether those parts that can easily become greasy are wear-resistant or not.

The side skirt on the left has enough space to allow you place your thumb comfortably, and you can also easily reach the side keys. And there is a concave between the right and the left side keys, which makes it easier to identify the front and rear side keys. The mouse wheel cannot be scrolled horizontally, and there is a DPI key right under the wheel, whose function can be customized through software. The LED light on the rear of the key will light up when the battery is below 15%.

The design of the bottom of the mouse is also amazing. There are two slices of curved mouse foot pads almost covering the bottom from right to left, and around the sensor, there is also foot pad. And in fact, those foot pads can provide stable and smooth moves.

You can switch between Lo and Hi through the switch at the bottom of the mouse. When you switch to Hi, you can get a response speed at 1ms. And by pressing the button on the right side, you can switch between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, and if you long press the mouse key during blue-tooth mode, the mouse will switch to pairing mode. There is an indicator light indicates different working modes by changing its light color from blue to white or versa. (When I tried to switch to the pairing mode for the first time, the light couldn’t stop flickering, and I couldn’t figure out the reasons without any related information on the instructions.)

The transition part from the left side skirt to the right is pretty smooth without any obvious ridges, and there is enough space for placing the ring finger and little finger and it feels so good to hold it in hand.

It is specially designed for right hands (feel sorry for left handers) and that makes it very comfortable to grip.

There is a semi-circle concave at the rear part of the mouse; the upper cover can be opened by pressing the concave. The 2 batteries should be installed in the same direction and the mouse can also work with 1 batteries (but you can’t turn up to the Hi mode), and the USB receiver can also be kept inside the mouse. There is a small sponge in the interior of the upper cover, which is used to prevent the batteries from popping out. The spring button remains there, and there is a spring at the gap between the key bars and the upper cover, which is designed to prevent the keys clapping down as the flexibility of the plastic decrease after long time use, and at the same time, it can also enable the keys to rebound more quickly. What’s more, the key bars have been strengthened, so it can last a very long time.

Using Experience

Isn’t it much cooler to use the game mouse to do CAD graphics, compared with the G502 I am using now?

It is really hard to believe that both of them are gaming mouse judging from the appearance. And personally, I prefer the anti-skid rubber on both sides of G502 which can ensure perform all kinds of action on the mouse even when my hands are sweating or greasy. But G603, on the other hand, is not that favorable considering my sweaty hands and it can easily get out of control with sweaty hands. The material of G603’s key is harder and the responsiveness is better. More specifically, when you click G603, it respond like PA ~ PA~ PA~, while G502 like Pa Pa i ~ ~ ~ the texture of G603 once reminded me of the original mouse of Lenovo.

TG603 supports on-board RAM and native storage as well. The key one the mouse can set up interface and DPI, which has 5 gears of circulation. 50DPI is one stepping unit from 200 to 1200. The responsive rate can be up to 1000Hz and it is fixed at 125Hz during Lo mode. The marquees adjusting function is left out. What a pity!

In fact, my favorite mouse is still the one that came with the MSI motherboard. It is light, it moves smoothly, it can be used to draw, play games with 1000Dpi, and its texture feels like that of G502.

Generally speaking, G603 is very comfortable to grip, and you can learn how to control it very quickly. The texture of the left and right keys is a little bit tough, but the responsiveness is very satisfying, and the mouse moves very smoothly. As for its shortcoming, the mouse is a little bit heavy with 2AA batteries, and if you take out one battery, the mouse will become unbalanced, so I think the mouse is more of an office mouse except for its stability on playing a video game called FPS.

At 2.4GHz mode, G603’s performance is quite good, and you cannot even believe that it is a wireless mouse, because the frames will never be dropped no matter how fast the cursor moves. And when it comes to slow movement operation for example, finding nodes in STAAD pro, the cursor will move as slow as you want.

Conclusions:

As a wireless mouse, Logitech G603 is satisfactory on the whole.

Achieve satisfying grip comfort!

From the upper cover and side skirts, you can tell that the mouse is of strict work.

Many details of the mouse still need improvement, such as the key supporting bars should be strengthen, the spring key structure can be improve, etc.

With the 2.4GHz mode, its wireless performance is quite satisfying. Though it doesn’t perform so well at Bluetooth mode as it’s at 2.4GHz, the battery last longer at blue tooth mode.

I think office workers who are particular about wireless office mouse will find Logitech G603 will favorable, but the gamers won’t think the same.
