“Chile Week” – “China-Chile Belt and Road Initiative Symposium: Opportunities on Trade, Investment & Finance” cosponsored by Multilateral Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ProChile, and Embassy of Chile in China, was held in Beijing on Aug. 30th. The symposium attracted a number of high-level guests, including Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, Chile’s former President and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Asia Pacific Region, Jorge Heine, Ambassador of Chile to China, Paulina Nazal, General Director of Multilateral Economic Affairs at the Chilean Foreign Ministry, Alejandro Buvinic, Director of ProChile, Wu Hongliang, Vice Director of National Development and Reform Commission Department of Foreign Investment Administration, and corporate representatives from various industries of both countries. JUMORE, as an active practitioner of “Belt and Road Initiative” and important cooperation partner of Chile, is also invited to the event.

Based on B&R framework, the symposium focuses on the discussion of cooperation prospect in the fields of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, telecommunication, transportation, and finance. Besides, the symposium also analyzed the investment opportunities that Chile can offer to China, so as to take advantage of the “B&R” Initiative and enable more Chinese companies to enter Chile.

As the continuous deepening of B&R Initiative, countries along its route are embracing great opportunities for economic and cultural exchanges, production capacity adjustment, and infrastructure construction. Chile is also having more urgent demand for cross-border e-commerce to connect with the B&R opportunities. At the symposium, representatives from various institutions and companies, including Wines of Chile, European American Chamber of Chamber and Industry (EACham), China-Latin American Production Capacity Cooperation Investment Fund, and Henry Global Consulting Group, all viewed positively on cross-border e-commerce, and discussed cooperation with JUMORE representatives. They expressed their willingness to gain further understanding about JUMORE and then promote cooperation.

For a long time, JUMORE has always kept close connection with Chile, and reached multiple cooperation achievements. While the symposium is being held, promoted by multiple parties from China and Chile, JUMORE formally signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with National Agricultural Society (SNA) of Chile on its Business Development Platform(BDP). Prior to that, witnessed by Mr. Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile, JUMORE signed a memorandum of cooperation with Banco de Chile. It is fair to say that, while China-Chile relationship is developing to depth at an unprecedented speed, the cooperation between JUMORE and Chile is also accelerating.
