VIVIBRIGHT GP100 Projector Review

Just like there are premium high-priced smartphones and the budget ones, there also exists pricey projectors that cost a fortune, and some other that come at an unbelievably low price — budget projectors. We have reviewed a couple of budget projectors that cost less than $200 in the past (eg DBPower RD-819 3200 Lumens , and Alfawise X3200 Lumens ) and one thing we observed is that they pretty much have the same capabilities and carry out the same functions as their expensive, costlier counterparts.

The product under review today is the VIVIBRIGHT GP100 Projector, the latest flagship projector from Vivibright. You should know that the GP100 is the successor to the Vivibright GP90 LCD 3200 projector . The GP100 is expected to be an upgrade and to come with better features and specs than its predecessors. Let’s find out if that’s true in the headers below.

DESIGN

Like the GP90, the Vivibright GP100 retains the same glossy plastic finesse appearance. There are horizontal stripes at the front that adds to the projector’s aesthetic properties. The lens now comes with a protruding silver rings that act as a stopper when focusing the lens using the adjustment knobs. There is also a new retractable stand at the bottom that allows users adjust the projector view to their preferred taste, height, or level. On the left-hand side (when viewed from the front), there is a cut-out that houses the rotating focus adjustment knob and keystone correction knob. Still on the frontal view, the Vivibright logo sits a the mid-top position, while the IR blaster sits at the bottom left corner.

Design wise, the Vivibright GP100 still very much looks like the previous version (GP90), but with some slight (and better) modification in shape and structure.

On the left-hand side, there is a sight that is lovely to the eyes. There are three different grill styles/ openings. The top opening is the speaker for audio output, while the ones below are for adequate heat dissipation. Also, a closer look at the side view of the GP100 projector, you would notice the top of the product has a curved projection … and it’s beautiful!

At the top, the control and navigation keys are embedded and have been improved. All buttons have been shaped as a square and have been given a sort of depth which makes it seem as though you are pushing the buttons on to the projector when you press or hit them. Buttons present on the projector include menu, navigation (enter, up, down, left & right), menu, channel and power buttons.

Ports

On the rear, there are a couple of ports present for wired connection: a headphone jack, AV IN, a secondary IR blaster, two USB ports, two HDMI ports, power cable port, and a single VGA port for PC connectivity. There is also a note attached to the rear which contains a number of warning to users. Vivibright warns that you should not (try to)force open or disassemble the projector, except you are a professional.

In general, the design and overall appearance of the Vivibright GP100 projector are appealing. It can be safely said that this product right here is the projector with the best design from Vivibright. And also, it goes a long way to show how much effort the manufacturer put into crafting this beauty. It is also evident that the company’s customer services team took the customer feedbacks (from the GP90) seriously. The R & D team should also be applauded.

Display Quality

The ViviBright GP100 Projector operates an LCD type of display and has a resolution of 1280 x 800 (common among budget projectors). Image quality can clock up to 1080P and based on the location you are, you can change the resolution to different frequencies of 720P and 1080P (50hz or 60hz). Visibility and clarity are undisturbed by brightness level as the LED is 3200 Lumens bright. With the GP100 projector, you necessarily do not have to put out the light or be in a dark room to have the best visual when gaming or watching movies.

A particular feature that makes the GP100 stand out from other budget projectors is the projection distance. Projection distance of the DP100 ranges from 1.2 meters to 7.5 meters; optimum viewing distance is about 5 to 5.5 meters.

Connectivity and Multimedia

The ViviBright GP100 projector supports both wired and wireless connections. With support for Bluetooth (v4.0) and WiFi (802.11b/g), you can easily connect gadgets and appliances like phones, laptops, TV boxes etc. You can also surf the net and upgrade the projector’s firmware via WiFi. Supported multimedia formats include:

• Picture Formats: JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, GIF
• Video Formats: MPG, AV, TS, MOV, MKV, DAT, MP4, VOB, 1080P
• Audio Formats: MP3, WMA, AAC, M4A

The built-in speaker will definitely blow you away as it comes with Dolby audio support.

Lamp Life

The LED lights that aids projection on the GP100 projector have a span of over 30,000 hours, and this is quite an improvement when compared to the Vivibright GP90 that had a lamp life of 20,000 hours.

ViviBright GP100 Projector Price

For $159 only, you can own a unit of the Vivibright GP100 projector. And this is a good buy — given that the GP90 costs $157. So, for just $2 more, you can get a better projector with better display quality, Bluetooth and WiFi support, better lamp life and better design. Great deal and good value for money.
